Stop fighting your focus

A minimalist approach to staying on track without breaking your flow

Oi-U! turns your calendar into intentional alarms that respect your deep work while keeping you connected to your commitments.

Hi, I’m Richard.

I’m a product manager and solution architect who’s spent years wrestling with a double-edged sword: the ability to dive deep into complex problems is my superpower, but it also means I’ve been late and missed more meetings than I’d like to admit. After one too many “Where are you?” messages (and a particularly awkward late arrival to an important interview), I built a simple solution for myself.

That solution became Oi-U! – a different take on staying on track without breaking flow. But this isn’t just about a tool. Through Deep Work Diaries, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about managing deep focus in a hyperconnected world, building in public, and finding authentic ways to work better – making better use of the tools.
Whether you’re here for the productivity insights or just tired of apologizing for missing meetings, welcome.

The Problem

Deep focus requires trust. When part of your brain is monitoring time or checking calendars, you’re not truly in flow. And each calendar check risks a spiral of notifications and distractions.

The Solution

Oi-U! creates a trusted system that frees your mind for deep work:

  • Scans your calendar each morning
  • Creates reliable alarms (not notifications) for your meetings
  • Lets you fully immerse in work, knowing you’ll surface at exactly the right time
  • No more calendar checking, no more partial attention

How It Works

  1. Triple tap your phone to run the shortcut
  2. Oi-U! converts your calendar into precise alarms
  3. Trust the system and dive deep into your work
  4. Return to the surface exactly when needed
